THE SMITTEN KITCHEN PROJECT

I know I said that the next thing I would blog about would be Tuscany but…I had so much else that I need to tell you! As most of you know I am obsessed with all things Smitten Kitchen (smittenkitchen.com), especially “The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook”. Big news: There’s a SECOND Smitten Kitchen Cookbook coming out! AIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I know you guys are not as excited about this as I am…sorry. Anyway, inspired by the film “Julie and Julia” (with Meryl Streep who I also happen to be obsessed with) I decided to cook every recipe in the Smitten Kitchen Cookbook! My Progress report:

I’ve cooked:

1. Peach and Sour Cream Pancakes.

Grade: A-      YUM! The marriage of creamy sour cream and the peaches, “caramelized by the butter” is delish!

2. Cinnamon Toast French Toast

Grade: A+!    Baking french toast+spreading it with cinnamon sugar=so good!!!!!!!!!

3. Gingerbread Spice Dutch Baby  YUM!

4. Plum Poppy Seed Muffins

5. Rasberry Ricotta Scones

6. Chocolate Chip Brioche Pretzels

COMING UP: ALMOND DATE BREAKFAST BARS!

The french toast sounds amazing! Have you ever tried challah french toast!? I bet your cinnamon french toast with challah would be out of this world! 🙂

I am the lucky one who gets to try EVERY one of these recipes. So far it is a tie between the plum poppy seed muffins and the chocolate chop brioche… oh, but I did love the almond date breakfast bars. I can’t wait until you hit the dinner section and take that over from me!

The chocolate chip brioche pretzels were one of the best things I have ever had! So delicious. Wish I could have one every day! Nicely done!!
